The MFi Program encompasses third-party hardware accessories that use Apple's MFi licensed technology to connect electronically to iPhone, iPad or iPod. The event focuses on briefing accessory manufacturers on HomeKit, iBeacon, and other new technologies coming in iOS 8.
Developers who wish to develop electronic accessories for iPhone, iPad or iPod using licensed technology could join the MFi Program. Companies, organisations, government entities and educational institutions are eligible to apply as well.
The event focuses heavily on Apple’s new Siri-controlled HomeKit product this year in addition to announcements related to iBeacon, new Lightning specs, game controllers, and more. First unveiled alongside iOS 8, HomeKit provides accessory makers and app developers in the home automation space a common protocol for pairing, security, and controlling multiple devices through Siri.
